Habitat for Humanity Toronto has engaged UIM Internet Solutions over the years to develop various websites and technology solutions (watch for news of an exciting volunteer management system coming soon!). As trends and technology have evolved, Habitat is always trying to look ahead and stay connected with volunteers, supporters, and the general public. UIM recently completed its latest site for Habitat, www.helpwomenbuild.ca, which was designed for the specific purpose of building momentum for the Women Build Blitz, May 1st – 9th, 2009.
Women Build is about building homes, with a focus on promoting women as leaders and more importantly, to provide an opportunity for women to learn new trades or skills, under the direction of both men and women skilled tradespersons. A Women Build includes all the benefits of a regular Habitat for Humanity build, but adds a twist by focusing on the encouragement of women to get involved in what is considered an otherwise male dominated profession. Women Build is about spirit, empowerment, solidarity, fun, learning, and a whole lot of pride in working with a family to build a place they can call home.
Please visit www.helpwomenbuild.ca or www.torontohabitat.on.ca for more information or to support this most worthy cause.

| | The art of buying and selling a home is not a mechanical process. Sure, there is the standard paperwork and baseline steps that need to be taken, but a home is like a piece of original art with no two being exactly the same. Real Estate professional Jason Madorsky embraces this notion as key part of his services and works with sellers to ensure the uniqueness of their homes are perfectly accentuated . UIM Internet Solutions developed the website www.JasonMadorsky.com to highlight Jason’s professional approach in maximizing his customer’s returns.
Jason and his Design Team work with clients to determine the best possible options in the Staging and Design process. Every home is different, but with expert designers on board, Jason purports that customers vastly increase their chances of selling for more money in a much quicker timeframe.
Collaborating with Jason on the website was a highly enjoyable process as his approach and philosophy mirrored UIM’s practices quite closely. As Jason states on his website, “When you sell your home you are not just selling a home, you are selling a lifestyle. By staging your home you allow people to imagine themselves and their family living there.” Along the same lines, the most effective websites are those that keep the User in Mind! |

Non-profit organizations face a daunting task in mobilizing audiences to rally behind their cause. From financial supporters to volunteers and staff, the success of any organization largely depends on equipping people with the right information. In a recent workshop tailored to Directors of Canadian Habitat affiliates, Daniel Ramlogan, CEO of UIM Internet Solutions Inc., explained how a website has become the single most important vehicle of communication available. In addition to being highly cost-effective, the Internet has introduced new levels of accessibility, convenience, and accuracy in communications. However, it has also created higher expectations on how not-for-profits operate.
The session presented a clear roadmap for the creation of a highly effective website, including proper planning protocols, must-have features, pitfalls to avoid, and tips for stretching one’s budget. There was also a segment that moved beyond websites to discuss email campaigns, multimedia tools, search engines, as well as the latest research on the ePhilanthropy phenomenon.
UIM is a longstanding supporter of Habitat for Humanity. The company currently partners with the several affiliates including; Halton Region Habitat for Humanity; Habitat for Humanity Toronto; Waterloo Region Habitat for Humanity.
In addition to service and financial support, our staff has also actively participated in various build projects. We encourage you to learn more about this visionary organization and its commitment to help families overcome adversity and acquire their first home. Visit http://www.habitat.ca to find a local chapter in your area.
Do you have a need for a speaker in the areas of online (i) marketing, (ii) organizational development, (iii) trends or (iv) overall strategy? UIM is pleased to consider requests. Simply call our office to inquire. |

UIM and CACDS partner to deliver secure Members intranet and website for the CACDS (Canadian Association of Chain Drugstores)
CACDS is the national voice of community chain pharmacy in Canada. The 22 members of CACDS are traditional chain drug stores, grocery chains and mass merchandisers with pharmacies. Together, CACDS members operate 5,602 pharmacies that dispense 78% of the nation's prescriptions each year. CACDS members employ more than 97,000 Canadians, including 70% of the pharmacists in Canada. The 180 Associate Members of CACDS represent all supply categories and services in the retail pharmacy industry, including pharmaceuticals, health and wellness products, self-care medications and other consumer products. CACDS was founded in 1995.
Faced with the challenge of improving communications to their internal and external communities, CACDS hired UIM to redevelop their website. UIM faced the challenge by creating a new brand and structure for the site. By incorporating our Advance Content Management System CACDS was empowered to easily maintain the content. We also restructured the association’s member area to improve usability and expand the scope of information included in this section.
Another key enhancement was the creation of commentary forums to facilitate the collection of opinions on CACDS research papers. Another improvement came in the form of several print pieces which were designed as a part of the overall communications strategy. The result of the combination of these individual modifications, was a greater solution that brought the CACDS increased efficiency and ease through rebuilding their internal and external communications. |
