Non-profit organizations face a daunting task in mobilizing audiences to rally behind their cause. From financial supporters to volunteers and staff, the success of any organization largely depends on equipping people with the right information. In a recent workshop tailored to Directors of Canadian Habitat affiliates, Daniel Ramlogan, CEO of UIM Internet Solutions Inc., explained how a website has become the single most important vehicle of communication available. In addition to being highly cost-effective, the Internet has introduced new levels of accessibility, convenience, and accuracy in communications. However, it has also created higher expectations on how not-for-profits operate. The session presented a clear roadmap for the creation of a highly effective website, including proper planning protocols, must-have features, pitfalls to avoid, and tips for stretching one’s budget. There was also a segment that moved beyond websites to discuss email campaigns, multimedia tools, search engines, as well as the latest research on the ePhilanthropy phenomenon. UIM is a longstanding supporter of Habitat for Humanity. The company currently partners with the several affiliates including; Halton Region Habitat for Humanity; Habitat for Humanity Toronto; Waterloo Region Habitat for Humanity. In addition to service and financial support, our staff has also actively participated in various build projects. We encourage you to learn more about this visionary organization and its commitment to help families overcome adversity and acquire their first home.
