Our training and development work is grounded in the fundamentals of why and how adults learn. And, although much has changed in the last decade, we find that the theories of adult learning have not. We continue to pay attention to five basic principles of adult learning, which contribute significantly to improving and developing individual capability.
These principles are as follows:
By applying these various principles of adult learning, we help our clients create an effective environment in which their audience can acquire new knowledge and skills, get practice in applying their learning, and successfully implement the learning with their student(s).
Our eLearning development methodology is based on adult learning principles, and as well, it reflects our strength in project execution. It focuses on phases and deliverables that can be adapted to fit with your environment, budget, and timeline.
While you have advised that course material will be provided in final format, we share responsibility in ensuring that the curriculum and the design plan meets the needs of the audience, is technically accurate, educationally sound and consistent with YD’s approach to training.
The following items outline our standard approach to Project Development:
We work with you to define the project objectives and plan. We understand that time and client motivation may not permit the formal preparation of a training needs assessment, but it is quite valuable to engage in a dialogue of a program’s objectives and desired outcomes – even if simply addressed informally.
Typically, we produce the overarching layout, content map (to help standardize content between chapters), interactive component descriptions and details, and the flow of chapters/content within the components and the curriculum.
However, with the online infrastructure, consultation with YD shall result in preparing an extensive functional specifications document where we outline the fields, features, processes, etc. that will ensure the end result addresses your needs.
This stage shifts from planning to action, where we commence the technical and creative programming aspects of the project. As noted, we have assumed your efforts will fast track to this point and that the majority of our value will be provided here. From the storyboard and its derivatives, we will start by producing design composites for client review and sign-off to ensure we stay on track from the outset. The previous phases’ documentation will provide the parameters for accelerated development since content presentation and interactivity will have already been finalized.
With the ability to combine text, graphics, audio, video, and animation to encourage interactivity, the Internet is a revolutionary medium from which to present courses and or educational material. UIM can bring your course material to life through engaging modules that will promote learning and reinforce the brand and culture of your organization's objective. This interactivity can function as independent tutorials/presentations or be a part of a larger curriculum.
Education usually involves some kind of registration process, scoring, note taking, glossary, index, etc. For more extensive requirements, the company is pleased to offer the IntraLearn LMS solution to its clients.
We invite you to explore our other our cost-effective solutions from previous client experiences and learn more about UIM's vision for using the Internet to enhance educational opportunities.
Our assessments/quizzes are characterized by a series of questions that link to a definitive scoring sheet. At the end of a given exercise, the user's data is processed with the option of immediately presenting the results as a graph or report.
An innovative variation is the our 360° assessment, where a participant completes a self-evaluation and invites peers, colleagues, managers, subordinates, etc. to anonymously complete the same evaluation for the user. The end result is a comprehensive output representing the analyzed, aggregated data results.
UIM has created a variety of questionnaires to collect data/research for various organizational purposes. Typically the survey is set up as the first part of a training initiative with the data compiled for the client in an easy-to-use format.
